A Steady Hand

The Motorcycle Art of David LaFrance

It seems that there are fine artists coming out of the woodwork everywhere these days to paint or sculpt motorcycles as an art form. A handul of talented artists have been doing this for years. In the case of david LaFrance, drawing motorcycles has been a lifelong passion. Originally from Nashua, New Hampshire, David no doubt saw bikers by the thousands riding to Laconia each year for the country’s oldest running Bike Week, the Loudon Classic.

Peter Fonda once said that the only truly American inventions are Harleys and rock ’n’ roll. He then added, “but what more do you really need?” David would probably agree. After earning a scholarship from Boys Town in Nebraska he went on to get a degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. David’s illustrations of classic motorcycles compliment his portfolio of rock ’n’ roll icons. A look through David’s gallery shows his fondness for The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendricks and other gods of rock.
